GIRI is Sanskrit for MONTE = MOUNTAIN 
DHARANA (derived from root Vdhr) is Sanskrit for STEMMER, 
somebody who is lifting up something 

Our Motto “Necessity meets Opportunity” is taken from the 
marvellous autobiography “You can’t win” by the American 
19th century hobo and burglar JACK BLACK. 
We translated this book into German. 
At the end of chapter XXIII we came across the sentences: 

“Then came a foggy night. Necessity and opportunity met, 
and I went away with a bundle of bank notes and some 
certified checks. The checks went into the first mail box as 
an apology from Necessity to Opportunity.” 

We've been fascinated by this because it describes in a nutshell 
our way of living as underground poets and rebells 
(re-bellum = to fight back).
